Brampton
Caledon Community Living
Mission
To support people with a developmental disability, in partnership with
their families and the community, to lead enriched and meaningful lives.
Vision
A community that respects the dignity and inherent value of each of its
members to participate, contribute, and share in all elements of living
in the community.
For
over 46 years, Brampton Caledon Community Living has and continues to
provide services and supports to people with an intellectual disability
and their families.
Brampton
Caledon Community Living is implementing individual support plans in accordance
with Personal Outcome Measures, a tool that promotes organizational values
as well as accountability to the people we support.
Services
and supports include:
Community
Living Supports
· Provides integrated residential options
· Homes are located in a variety of neighborhoods throughout
Brampton and Caledon
· Living arrangements vary in nature, ranging from total
care settings to supportive independent living
· Supports are individualized according to the needs and
wishes of the person being supported
· A variety of support alternatives are offered which include
traditional staffing models to home share settings where people are supported
within a family environment
· The goal of Community Living Supports is to assist people
in having a meaningful and valued role in their community
Community
Resources
· Provides case management services to individuals and their
families
· The Family Support Worker has a service coordinator function that
is based on the identified needs of each individual or family
· Assistance is often provided in helping access government
services such as Ontario Disability Support Program, Ontario Works, Special
Services at Home and other social programs
· Provide emotional and practical support to people and
their families
Respite
Services
Designed to provide periodic, short-term support to families caring for
a child or adult living at home. Respite services provide families with
funds to secure a respite provider. Over 400 people and their families
receive respite dollars.
Types
of respite support may include:
· Out of Home Respite
· In Home Respite
· Summer Camp costs
· March Break costs
· Adult Day Program costs
· Recreational Program costs
Norpak
Custom Packaging
Norpak currently
operates two co-packaging operations in Brampton providing high-speed
shrink-wrapping, skin packaging, blister packaging, light assembly, labeling
and overlaying solutions to the market place.
One
Norpak location went through a restructuring last year. The primary reason
for this was to consolidate the packaging operation and to provide increased
focus and opportunity to address the recreational, leisure and educational
interests of people who are not interested in work related opportunities.
A new location to address the recreational, leisure and educational interests
of people is scheduled to open in late fall.
Alliance
Personnel
Alliance Personnel supports and promotes the abilities of people to access
and secure employment and to also increase awareness of the services available
to the job seeker and the business community.
Some
of the services include:
· Employers: access to an untapped segment of the labor
force, dedicated and qualified pool of potential employees, pre-screening
of applicants, follow-up support, and sensitivity training
· Job Seekers: employment plan development, work experiences, job/position
development, job coaching, job maintenance, transit route support, supports
co-ordinations
Norpak
Custom Packaging and Alliance Personnel have a strong and active presence
with the Brampton Board of Trade and its membership
Options
Options support people, many with a significant cognitive and physical
disability, to promote their personal development and their involvement
in the community.
This
includes:
· Volunteer and work opportunities
· Activities of daily living, particularly those that enhance social
and interpersonal skills
· Participation in social, cultural, recreational and leisure
activities in the community
· Education and person development such as literacy, numeric,
computer and motor skills
Connections
Connections provides young adults with leisure, learning and volunteer
experiences in their community that reflects their interests and goals.
The experiences derived from people's interests are community based as
well as teachers/instructors being brought into the base site to offer
a variety of courses.
Some
opportunities and experiences people have participated in are:
· Developing music skills
· Cooking courses
· Fitness - Martial Arts, Aquafit, Pilates/Yoga, Skating,
Canoeing
· Visual Arts
· Volunteerism
· Wood Working
· Stained Glass Workshop
· Introduction to Computers course
