2.5 Job Description of the Vice-chairperson

Authority & Responsibility

The Vice-Chairperson will assume the Chairperson’s role in his/her absence.

Qualifications/Skills

Completed one year of Board membership term , have an understanding of parliamentary procedures, and be a member in good standing.

Term of Office

  • Two (2) years service to a maximum of three years.

  • Reviewed and elected annually at Annual General Meeting.

Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission and values of ORWC.

  • Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance: policy, finance, programs, human resources experience, leadership, marketing.

  • Willingness to serve on at least one additional committee.

  • A time commitment of ___ to___ hours per month. (Includes Board preparation, travel time & meeting and committee meeting time).

  • Attendence at all scheduled Board meetings.

  • Foster a positive working relationship with other Board members and staff.

  • Attendance and participation in the Annual General Meeting.

  • Be aware and abstain from any conflict of interest.

Duties

  • Assist in establishing the overall long and short term goals, objectives and priorities for ORWC in meeting the requirements and expectations of the membership.

  • The Vice-Chairperson of the Board shall be a signing officer of the Corporation.

  • During the absence or inability of the Chairperson of the Board, the Chairperson’s duties and powers may be exercised by the Vice-Chairperson.

  • Adhere to the general duties outlined in the Board member job description.
