Role of the Treasurer
Authority
& Responsibility
The Treasurer is responsible to ensure that all aspects of the financial
responsibilities of the organization are adhered to.
Qualifications/Skills
Excellent knowledge and experience in accounting practices
Term
of Office
- Two
(2) years service to a maximum of three years.
- Reviewed and elected annually at Annual General
Meeting.
Requirements
-
Commitment to the mission and values of ORWC.

Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board
governance: policy, finance, programs, human resources experience,
leadership, marketing.

Willingness to serve on
the Executive committee and to chair the Finance Committee.

Attendance
at all scheduled Board meetings.

Attendance
and presentation of financial report at the Annual General Meeting.

Prepare
for and participate in the discussions and deliberations of the Board.
- Foster a positive
working relationship with other Board members and staff.
- Be aware and abstain
from any conflict of interest.

Assist in establishing the overall long and short
term goals, objectives and priorities for ORWC in meeting the requirements
and expectations of the membership.

The
Treasurer shall be a signing officer of the Corporation.

The
Treasurer shall generally supervise the treasury functions of the
Corporation.
- The Treasurer shall
provide that full and accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements
of the Corporation are kept in proper books of account and shall provide
that deposits of all monies or other valuable effects are in the name
and credit of the Corporation in such bank or banks as may from time
to time be designated by the Board of Directors.
- The Treasurer
shall prepare and present an account of all transactions and of the
financial position of the Corporation to the Board of Directors at regular
Board meetings or whenever required.
- The Treasurer shall
ensure that the annual budget is prepared and submitted to the Board
for approval.
- The Treasurer shall
ensure that an annual audit of ORWC financial transactions is completed
and reported to the Board and appropriate government departments.

The Treasurer shall
adhere to the general duties outlined in the member job description.
